I would probably have to say Alundra on the PS1, followed closely by Legend Of Legaia, also on the PS1. Both very good games, overlooked by many people but both have accounted for countless hundreds of hours of my life.

My fave RPG is Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and The Lost Ocean

This is because it had a different battle system which i loved and the music was great, at the time i first played it, everything just hit the spot for me

I too, agree that you can't just have one so here's a list of my favourites:

Chrono Trigger
Dragon Age: Origins
Eye of the Beholder
Final Fantasy VII
Heroes of Might & Magic (All except #4)
Might & Magic (All of them)
King's Bounty - The Legend
Suikoden
Ultima 4

That's all I can think of off the top of my head but I have many many more that are still considered awesome!

though it is probably cliche by now I would have to go with FF7 simply because it was the first(and subsequently longest) rpg I have ever played and the only time I cared when a player died.  Xenogears is a cloooooooooooooose second.

Man, that's a tough one, It's a toss-up between:

Shining Force
(The best ending ever!)

FF5
(Best Plot-twist ever!)

And FF6
(The longest ending ever!-Clocked @ 22 mins!)

I started off in RPGs with FFVII, and to date I still think it's my favourite, but not by much.  FFX comes VERY close, and is a brilliant game!!!  A few others include:

- Star Ocean 2: The Second Story (long LONG gameplay with the hidden dungeon! Got to lvl 260 or so!)
- Lunar Silver Star Story (I think that's the title)
- Xenogears
- Tales of Destiny
- FFVIII, IX, X-2, XIII
- Legend of Dragoon
- Wild Arms 3
- Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance

I know there's others I've played but their names just don't come to mind at the moment.

The Final Fantasy series was great, as was Vagrant Story, but my favourite RPGs are all on the PC - Ultima VII, Planescape:Torment and more recently Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

My Fav was Final Fantasy 7

i got into gaming late as first ever computer was a bbc acorn electron.

Had nothing until got a gameboy original.

Eventually started work n college n the psone came out.

I got hooked on Rpg ff7 was the first real RPG that i ever played, 8,9, 10 were also good but after that i think thye look more to make the game pretty than actual good game play. Its the freedom of ff7 i loved as you didnt have to follow the story constantly you could wander here there and everywhere, grind lvls n do side quests, same for 8 and 9 but then 10 started to drift away.

also love Suikoden they is good to. Smiley

My personal favorite  RPG would have to be Final Fantasy 6. It was like the 2nd rpg I ever played but the reason why I enjoyed it so much is because of the character development as well as the magic development. I loved the fact that you had Sabin using his Blitz via button combonation and then learning new magic by whichever Esper you had equiped and developing it. I love any rpg where you have alot of character development and the chance to try different things. Here is a funny fact that most people don't know about the game but if your character's health is in yellow sometimes...rarely that character will do their own personal style near death move. Almost like a limit break just happens when you attack.  To me that was awesome and you could turn Odin into another summon. That was cool. Storyline was pretty good to. Only thing I didn't like about it was Kefka. A little too over the top for my taste but served his purpose.  My 2nd favorite would definetly be...Chrono Trigger. For obvious reasons of course.

yo, i been playing this new rogue like rpg (dungeon crawler rpg). Its made by nippon ichi, the ones who made diseaga. It has a great sense of humor and has tons references to other animes and games. Out of the rogue like rpgs i played this is one of the easier ones, but tons fun, check it out. It is called:

Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs Evil Badman

It has like 18 endings and extra dungeons so i am still busy even after i finished it.
